Art in the Atrium, Inc. (ATA)
is a nonprofit, tax exempt volunteer arts organization, founded in
culturally diverse Morris County, New Jersey in 1992. The
organization derives its operating dollars from a broad range of
resources, including corporations, foundations, government, community
organizations and private citizens.
Since its inception, ATA
has proudly exhibited African-American fine art in many venues
throughout northern New Jersey. However, its annual exhibition,
the largest of its kind in the state of New Jersey, has been a
successful showcase of art by emerging and established artists, through
alliances with the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders, the Office
of the Morris County Administrator, corporations, community
organizations, small businesses, the public at large and, of course, art
lovers. The organization has also benefited from the help and
support of the Morris Museum and the Newark Museum and enjoys a working
relationship with the Morris School District with its
"Artist in the Schools"
Program.
ATA annually awards a scholarship to a promising visual arts student. The work of several of these students has been exhibited in the annual show. In 2001 the organization was named "Arts Organization of the Year" by the Arts Council of the Morris Area. In addition to its annual and other exhibits, ATA, Inc has sponsored artist seminars, jazz / art brunches and collector's workshops and "Artist in the Schools" program in order to introduce and expose the public to African-American art and artists. In 2010 ATA launched the Russell Aldo Murray (RAM) Gallery, a 21st century year-round Arts venue for emerging artist and community related events.
